Fractional Resurfacing with SmartXide DOT
WHAT IS THE SMARTXIDE DOT LASER?
The SmartXide CO2 laser is an FDA-approved resurfacing laser that can dramatically restore your skin’s youthful appearance without the downtime and discomfort required with traditional resurfacing. DOT therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) affects only a fraction of your skin by creating thousands of microscopic laser spots (“DOT’s”) in your skin which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. This technology combines the great and proven results of a traditional CO2 laser, considered the gold standard in laser resurfacing for over 15 years, with only a fraction of the downtime.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
A pattern of tiny dots of laser energy is applied to the skin. It creates an ablative and thermal effect at the target area – without disturbing the surrounding tissue. The healthy surrounding skin enables your skin to heal more rapidly. These targeted areas start the process of healing as collagen remodels, skin tightens and the skin texture and tone improves.
WHAT DOES IT TREAT?
DOT therapy is a safe and effective way to treat sun damage/brown spots, skin laxity, textural changes, enlarged pores, fine lines and deep wrinkles, acne scars, and other scars on the face, neck, chest or hands.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL IT TAKE TO SEE THE BEST RESULTS?
Depending on the degree of damage to your skin and the desired outcome, most patients can expect excellent results after a single session. However, for severe wrinkles or deep scars, patients may require a series of treatments.
HOW MUCH IMPROVEMENT CAN I EXPECT?
Patients should expect to see immediate improvement in the color, texture and quality of the skin with a week or two after the treatment; however, more significant improvement will be seen a month or so after due to the collagen stimulation effect.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?
There is minimal, if any, discomfort during the procedure. Rarely, a mild burning sensation may occur.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Most patients experience redness, flaking and/or peeling for 5 – 7 days after treatment. Depending on the number of passes performed, your healing time may vary.
